It started when Brendan was shooting The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in China with his co-star Maria Bello. Unfortunately, there was unconfirmed speculation that the two stars, Fraser and Bello, had some form of romantic chemistry during the film's production process. Smith's doubted towards her husband resulting in the divorce. According to the court, the divorce settlement was done as actor Fraser had to pay $900000 of annual alimony, which meant he had to give $50,000 monthly and $300000 a year to support the children.
